Since issue #2.5 in May 2016, the curious (re-)searcher, who investigates with devotion and magnifying glass the speech bubble in which he stands, is the title illustration for our section »ComicKontext«. In this section, Closure presents institutions and projects that are enriching the comic scene. The figure was drawn by Matthias ›Matze‹ Latza, who is no stranger to North German comic circles: his stories can regularly be found in Pure Fruit, the non-profit magazine for comics and illustrations. Under his battle synonym Kamimatze he is a tried & tested and victorious participant
in the relevant comic battles.

Matthias Latza studied Art and German at the Muthesius School of Arts Kiel and the Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel. He currently lives in Kiel and Fehmarn where he works as a teacher. He offers comic workshops and is involved in art education. In addition to the medium of comics, he has another artistic position in oil and acrylic painting.
